Testimonials and character references
"The Generation Gap Band is the best big band sound I've heard. They are efficient with their set up, on time and Larry Knowles is the greatest musician I've worked with on scheduling and details. Their price can't be beat and their personalities and music take you through the night (or day) with laughs and listening and moving to the beat."
Carol Longshore, Fundraising chair for the Concord Historical Society
"I think your band is fantastic and right on the mark. As a professional DJ, I found you and your band to be extremely easy to work and coordinate with during our last wedding performance together. Everything went so smoothly. for a wedding, that's extremely rare. Good luck on the road, and remember me if your next wedding couple want to compliment your band to include a DJ."
Bob Powell (DJ, retired Vacaville Fire Chief)
“My husband and I were married in October, 2007, and hired the Generation Gap big band to play at our wedding. Mr. Knowles asked us what songs we would enjoy, and of course we only new of a few titles from that era, (all of which the band had). We explained that we wanted other songs that would get people out of their seats to boogie. Boy, did they!
I have never been to a wedding where nearly everyone, (including my 84 year old grandfather) was up dancing. The band was so energetic and seemed genuinely happy to be playing for our very special day. The band looked very professional in their tuxedos, and you can’t beat their price. I would recommend this band, (and I have) to all my friends and family. Thanks again Generation Gap.”

“The Generation Gap performed at my wedding reception and helped to make it an unforgettable experience. There was a nice variety of great music that was fun to dance too. Several of my guests complimented the quality and professionalism of the band. I will look back with great memories to the wedding reception, and I appreciate the large part the Generation Gap played in creating those memories.”

“The Generation Gap has been hired on numerous occasions for the dancing and listening pleasure of the members and their guests at the Vallejo Moose Lodge in Vallejo, California. Many of our members are avid dancers and the Generation Gap is always enthusiastically received. Their numbers (songs) are varied and planned for the specific occasion or audience. In addition, Larry Knowles and his group are always courteously receptive to requests for a specific number. It is always a pleasure to work with them.
The Generation Gap is always professional in appearance and set up, and always ready to play on time. Their breaks are minimal, and they have provided many hours of dancing and listening pleasure for our members and guests.”

“Soon after the Crockett Museum opened in 1981, the Historical Society arranged for a ‘gathering’ of Crockett veterans on Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day. On Memorial Day of 1999 the Museum Board decided to sponsor an event to include the hiring of a band to play ‘old time’ musical selections and to invite the entire community to celebrate with us. C&H Sugar Company gave us permission to have the band concert in Rithet Park. Thanks in part to museum member Mr. Hank Triglia who was (and still is) a member of the Generation Gap Big Band, we were able to send an invitation to the Crockett community stating: The museum’s usual Memorial Day Observation has been expanded this year (1999) to include a band concert by the Generation Gap Big Band featuring familiar tunes from the 40’s and 50’s. Come by the Museum for conversation and refreshments. The Band Concert will be from 1 to 3 p.m. in Rithet Park.
Each year since that Memorial Day of May 1999, the Generation Gap Big Band has been part of an annual Crockett community event honoring veterans no longer with us. Despite some windy days, some hot days, and even a day when the park sprinklers came on in mid-concert… each year several hundred community and museum members have enjoyed the unique sounds of this great band on the annual Day in the Park.”
